Way back in February, I had the pleasure of getting to hang out with and photograph beautiful Neo in historic downtown McKinney. Neo was one of the very first people I got to meet shortly after my family moved to Anna, TX. We were attending a community kid’s event at our local coffee shop, and we were having your typical ‘new kid on the block’ moment. The shop was crowded and all of the tables were full. I was the mom with the three kids looking for a place to sit, when Neo and her sweet mother welcomed us to share their table with them. This might seem like such a small thing to remember, but it made a big impact on us–it was the very first gesture we had received toward being invited to join this warm community and made us feel so much more welcomed.
If you know Neo, you know this is not surprising. She and her family give so much of themselves to the community. I know that teens today often get a bad rap among the older generations, but if more people could know that there are teens like Neo in the world, they might worry for the future a little less.
I am so excited to share images from Neo’s quinceañera in the weeks ahead, but for now, please enjoy these images from our session in historic downtown McKinney.
