Did you ever keep a special place to hold little mementos when you were younger? I was best about doing this when I was in high school. I had a bottom drawer that I kept open for storing all the little things I wanted to remember: a medal I won at a state competition, dried flowers from Valentine’s Day, a bottle of the fragranced lotion I was wearing the night I held hands with my long-term crush for the first time. These items would mean nothing to anybody else, yet they still hold the power to make me smile when I visit home and see them. Such sweet little memories come rushing back when I see these items again.
Maybe this is the reason I am so in love with these heirloom boxes from H.H. Boogie. Brilliantly designed by a photographer and expertly brought to life by Amish craftsmen, this little box is made for the nostalgic at heart. I love photo albums, but I absolutely adore the concept of having a beautiful place to store photos and tiny keepsakes as well.
I told you last week that all of the products I choose to sell are items that I display in my own home. So here is how I am personally using the heirloom boxes: I am keeping one box for each of the girls (I just saw that engraving is now being offered, so I am definitely engraving Hazel’s name on the next box!) and over time, adding my absolute favorite 4×6 prints, as well as any small little keepsakes. For Lily’s box, I have added some dried petals from a dandelion she picked for me to one of the vials, and plan to add a lock of hair from her first haircut to another. (It is so hard to part with those sweet baby curls.) I plan to give the girls these boxes when they graduate high school, along with a journal that their daddy and I are keeping for them.
I can’t wait to share with you the heirloom box that will be available with my premium collection. It is so beautiful!
