Capturing Motherhood: Pink Parasol Photography

“My name is Nell Aburto, and my family and I live in Minnesota. I love being a photographer, but my most important role is that of a mother. Though it is often very challenging for me personally, overall I believe that family life and especially motherhood help me to develop attributes and virtues that are important. Qualities such as patience, kindness, selflessness, and a good sense of humor :)

 I photograph children and families, but my recent emphasis has been on newborn photography. Oh, how I love those little babies. I take an organic approach so most of the images are of mothers simply holding, kissing, or smiling at their baby. The session unfolds naturally. I keep the color scheme neutral, and don’t use a lot of props because I want the emphasis to be on the relationship between the people and not on the props or busy background. I absolutely love photographing mothers and their babies. I don’t know why. I think it’s because to me, a mother snuggling her new baby epitomizes beauty. I specialize in wall portraits and art for homes so I never send anyone home with just disk of images that would likely sit in a  desk drawer for years. I believe that people should hire professional photographers to create big beautiful art for their walls so that the pictures can be enjoyed every single day. I also think that when we look at those images daily,  it reminds us of how much we love kids and family.

I recently photographed several mama and baby sessions which illustrates my organic style and love of natural light. I hope all the mamas out there continue to take their own great pictures at home, but also don’t forget to get in the picture from time to time.”
